- Where do the tours depart?
Snowmobile tour departs from Zephyr Cove Resort at 760 U.S. Hwy 50, Zephyr Cove, NV 89448, arrive 1 hour early from departure time.
- How much snow does Lake Tahoe get?
At lake level, annual snowfall averages 125 inches. At alpine skiing elevations, the snowfall averages 300 to 500 inches each year.
- Is the snowmobile tour fun?
The ride is a blast. Although we advertise the ride as a scenic tour, we cover a lot of ground and ride up to almost 9,000 ft.
- What is included with the tours?
All tours include D.O.T.-certified helmet, snowmobile, and guide.
- What is the minimum age to ride a snowmobile?
Snowmobiling is fun for the entire family. However, the minimum age to ride on a Snowmobile is 5 years old. Sled operators must be at least 16 years of age with valid driver’s license. Those under 18 are required to have written parental (or legal guardian) consent.
Double-rider sleds have a 450-lb. weight limit.
- Do you offer shuttles & where do I park?
Complimentary shuttle transportation is offered from select local Lake Tahoe areas. You will have the opportunity to opt-in for this shuttle service during the online booking process. The service is first-come, first-served. There is a nominal transportation fee for groups of 20 or more. If space is not available, parking is available for a fee.
- I've never driven a snowmobile. Can I take your tour?
We love first-time riders, and our staff is made up of excellent, patient teachers.
- Do you divide your snowmobile riders into groups according to their ability and experience?
We divide the groups by the number of machines, not by experience.
- Can my entire family ride in the same group?
Yes, we don't separate friends and families.
- Can my family watch me snowmobile at the trailhead?
Observers may watch their family depart the trailhead.
- Can we fit three riders on one snowmobile?
Only two riders are allowed per machine, regardless of size or weight.
- If we rent a double rider snowmobile, can we switch drivers?
We do not encourage switching drivers, as it is difficult to ensure the proper person has been trained on all safety aspects.
- How fast do we get to go on the snowmobiles?
Since our trails feature many twists and turns, the terrain dictates average speeds of 15 to 25 mph.
- Is there an opportunity to go off-trail during the tour?
Because of obstacles off-trail, all Lakeview tours stay on-trail between the lead and tail guides. If riders want to go off-piste, we have private tours available.
- Are there any photo stops along the way?
Yes! Not only do we tour some of the most beautiful country anywhere, we also have spectacular views of the Lake Tahoe Basin. Each tour is designed to stop at various locations for epic photo opportunities.
- How many miles do we ride on the Lakeview Tour?
Usually between 15 and 20, depending on the weather and other conditions.
- What if there is no snow?
Unfortunately, tours may be canceled due to snow, weather, or other conditions.
